VIS has a rolling mill in Hung Yen and a melt-shop in Hai Phong. However, since the two works are around 80 km away from each other, efficient operations are difficult. This capital investment in the construction of a new rolling mill next to the melt-shop will allow for an integrated steelmaking and rolling production system. The new mill includes a high-speed line mill manufactured by Danieli & C. S.p.A. that can roll steel at a maximum speed of 44 meters per second. It is the fastest mill in Vietnam. Combined with cost-saving efforts thus far, VIS is expected to become more competitive in the northern Vietnamese market, where competition is intensifying, by eliminating the cost gap between itself and its competitors. VIS's annual production capacity is expected to reach 800,000 tons of steel: 300,000 tons at the Hung Yen Works and 500,000 tons at the newly constructed Hai Phong Works.

The KYOEI STEEL Group has deepened its relationship with Vietnam since providing technological guidance in South Vietnam in 1974. Following the launch of the Doi Moi policy, Koichi Takashima, then president of KYOEI STEEL, aspired to help Vietnam with its post-war reconstruction efforts, similar to Japan's reconstruction efforts after World War II. Accordingly, KYOEI STEEL established Vina Kyoei Steel Co., Ltd., in southern Vietnam in January 1994. It was the first Japanese-affiliated steel manufacturer in Vietnam. In 2011, the KYOEI STEEL Group expanded to the northern part of the country by establishing Kyoei Steel Vietnam Co., Ltd. In 2018, KYOEI STEEL consolidated VIS as a subsidiary to expand its business.

After three decades of operations in Vietnam, the KYOEI STEEL Group continues to develop local communities through the steel business. The group seeks to become a trusted and beloved corporate entity.
