On August 25 (local time), Vinton Steel LLC, the U.S. subsidiary of KYOEI STEEL LTD. (Headquartered in Osaka, Japan; President: Shogo Sakamoto), held a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the commencement of construction for its new plant in Texas (Vinton Steel LLC is led by President Koichiro Natsume).

The ceremony was attended by approximately 200 guests, including distinguished visitors such as Mr. Zentaro Naganuma, Consul General of Japan in Houston, and Mr. Larry McManus, Director of Business and Community Development at the Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office. Also in attendance were representatives from local governments, companies and organizations contributing to regional development, and officials from Tenova, Pomini, and Techint E&C, the firms responsible for the plant’s construction.
Vinton Steel LLC has long faced challenges due to aging equipment. With this capital investment, the company will construct a new steelmaking plant and significantly upgrade its rolling mill facilities. These improvements are expected to enhance productivity, reduce costs substantially, and increase both production and shipment volumes. The annual production capacity is projected to rise from 200,000 tons to 300,000 tons, further strengthening the company’s competitiveness in the rapidly growing Texas economy.
Prioritizing the safety of employees and construction personnel, Vinton Steel LLC will continue to advance the construction process with the goal of commencing operations in early 2027.
