KYOEI STEEL LTD. (Osaka, Japan; President and Representative Director: Yasuyuki Hirotomi) updated the SuMPO EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for four products: deformed bars (as known as rebars), round bars, equal angle bars, and flat bars. Our products' environmental impact data, which has been publicly available since April 2021, was recalculated at our Hirakata, Yamaguchi, Nagoya, and Kanto divisions following the merger with Kanto Steel and verified by Sustainable Management Promotion Organization (SuMPO).
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) program is a system for Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), which quantitatively disclose environmental information throughout the product lifecycle using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. The program systematically assesses the environmental impact of our products, from the procurement of raw materials to the manufacturing stage, and it has undergone third-party verification. This feature enables customers to objectively and quantitatively assess the environmental impact of the products they use, providing a basis for purchasing environmentally friendly products.
Additionally, using products with the EPDs can provide benefits when applying for LEED certification, an international performance evaluation system for buildings and urban environments in the United States. This contributes significantly to customers' efforts to obtain LEED certification.
KYOEI STEEL aims to be a company that contributes to societal development and harmony with the global environment through a resource recycling business.
